My Philosophy
At its core, my passion is natural skincare--and my purpose is to share it with you. Like so many, I know firsthand the frustration of chasing clear, radiant skin with over-the-counter products that promise everything and deliver very little. Through experimentation, research and refinement, I spent 2019 creating a small collection of high-performance skincare formulas that truly worked. What began as a personal pursuit soon revealed itself as a calling: to offer these results to others who were ready to experience something different.
With a leap of faith, Amber + Smoke was born in February of 2020 as a small, home-based studio--and I haven't looked back since.
So, what sets Amber + Smoke apart? Every formula is personally developed and hand-crafted by me, poured into amber glass vessels with care, intention and an unwavering attention to detail. I work with sustainably-sourced, nature-derived ingredients--because nature offers the most powerful solutions and because preserving our planet for future generations matters deeply to me. My Inspiration
More than a decade ago, I was introduced to a wellness company rooted in the concept of reducing toxic chemicals in everyday life. At the time, I was raising three young children with a fourth on the way and creating a healthier home suddenly became deeply personal. I didn't realize it then, but the moment I joined that company, I stepped into a journey that would one day lead me to creating my own natural brand.
In 2018, I discovered the oil cleansing method--and a natural product I quickly grew to love. I was skeptical at first, but the results were undeniable. My complexion quickly became more balanced, acne flare-ups noticeably diminished and my skin no longer felt tight or stripped after cleansing. The only drawback? The product came with a $60 price tag for a too-small, plastic jar. Unwilling to invest that much in a single cleanser--let alone an entire ritual--I set out on a quest to understand the science behind oil cleansing and the role of natural ingredients in supporting problematic skin--be it acne or age-related.
What I learned was fascinating. Oil cleansing mirrors the way a healthy metabolism functions. When the body receives consistent nourishment, it doesn't feel the need to store excess fat; instead, it operates efficiently and in balance. In much the same way, oil-based skincare signals the skin to regulate its own oil production. This results in a calmer, more harmonious complexion.
We've been conditioned to believe that foaming cleansers are essential for beautiful skin but this is a myth. These formulas often strip the skin of vital nutrients, leading to redness, irritation, imbalance and breakouts--disrupting the skin at a cellular level. Aging is inevitable but aging gracefully becomes far more attainable when the skin is supported through every phase. At A+S, natural butters, carrier oils, thoughtfully chosen botanicals and high-quality essential oils work synergistically to restore hydration, reduce inflammation, encourage cellular renewal, support collagen production to reveal a more youthful appearance when used consistently.
It's amusing to think that a chance encounter with a cleanser sparked the creation of my own botanical brand--but here I am. And I am so honored to share them with you!
